For Those Who Don't Know, What is SAR?

For those who may not know, SAR is the abbreviation for the phrase “search and rescue”.   The job of any search and rescue team is to locate and rescue those who are lost or missing and in a distress situation and /or in imminent danger.

There are many different types of search and rescue disciplines but all bear the responsibility of saving lives. To many, people who carry out this type of work are considered heroes.

SAR K9’s also play a major role in the search mission and and are an extremely affective and valuable tool. These dogs are highly trained, versatile and adaptable. They have the ability to detect the scent of a missing person in virtually any environment. According to a wide variety of studies, depending on which one you read, a dogs nose is anywhere from 100 to 100,000 times stronger than the human nose which makes them a well suited resource for SAR missions.
